For example, the library holds a great number of resources on American art, decorative arts, particularly ceramics, art of Ancient America, and studio craft and design. Growing library collections on contemporary art and historic costume and fashionable dress reflect the museum focus on these two areas as well.

Other resource areas include art history, museum studies, the history of the Charlotte Branch Mint and the Mint Museum, North Carolina artists, photography, American Indian art and culture, among others.
